Let us answer some common questions we usually get asked

  • What is the RCL Accelerator?

The RCL Accelerator invests in and assists high growth technology startups through a six month intensive acceleration program based out of River City Labs, in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. We invest in up to 10 companies, each program, and offer a combination of seed capital, world class training, a purpose built workspace and access to our extensive global network of mentors, experts, partners and investors.

We have already taken funding. Can we still apply?

Yes! We assess every company on a case by case basis.

Our company is later stage, is the Accelerator still worth while?

Yes! If you are wanting to transform your company into a high growth beast, definitely apply to the program.

What type of companies do you select?

Our focus for the RCL Accelerator program is broad, however we are especially excited about seed to series-A startups tackling the worlds biggest problems in the following areas: AgTech, MedTech, Robotics, Telecommunications, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.

As long as it’s technology, ambitious, solving a big problem – we want to hear from you!

What does “powered by muru-D” mean?

It is also worth noting that when you get accepted into the RCL Accelerator programme, you become a muru-D portfolio company and get all the benefits that a muru-D company would get during and after the programme, including access to their entrepreneurs in residence, core team and alumni support.

We find the network of alumni, muru-D, Telstra, River City Labs and Seven West Media offer significant value in opening doors and gaining early traction.

How much money do companies receive?

The companies that get accepted into the programme can receive up to $60K in funding with the possible follow on funding through the program.

    What is the application process?

Applications for the RCL Accelerator open in April each year. Each application is assessed by a group of industry experts, mentors, investors and previous alumni. Interviews with the EIR and Program Manager follow for the short listed candidates. On further review a select group of companies will be asked to attend bootcamp where the team dynamics are tested and put through their paces. Following that, the cohort is selected to participate in the programme.

Can we do the program remotely?

No. The founding team is required to be based in Brisbane and work from River City Labs. Your engineering devs, designers, product managers and the like are allowed to work remotely if you choose.

Do we have to be Australian citizens to apply?

No, but you will need to have Australian working rights to be part of the program. This may not necessarily be Australian citizenship.
